Greater Kansas City Food Policy Coalition
The Greater Kansas City Food Policy Coalition is a coalition of individuals, organizations, businesses, and government representatives committed to ensuring that there is a healthy, sustainable, and affordable food system for Greater Kansas City.
Get Growing KC
The Get Growing KC project brings together Kansas City Community Gardens, Cultivate Kansas City (formerly the Kansas City Center for Urban Agriculture), and the Lincoln University Small Farm Outreach Project for a big, two year push to promote growing food, selling food, and food access in Wyandotte County and Jackson County. We are putting together a team of ten people (including six part-time new hires) who will provide public education, technical assistance, and development support for home and community gardeners and market farmers.
The campaign's goals are to increase the numbers of people growing food in Kansas City, the acreage of land in food production, and access to locally grown food through increasing the supply and purchasing channels.
Kansas City Beans&Greens Program
Kansas City Beans&Greens Program nourishes neighborhoods with fresh, locally grown food by making it accessible and affordable for low-income families. The program works closely with area farmers markets, the Beans&Greens Mobile Market and the surrounding community to help educate communities about eating healthy food. The program makes it affordable for low-income families by matching food assistance dollars when they use their benefits at participating markets and the Mobile Market.
